Now this is no April fool joke!!!

Home: March 27th, 2005: Time - 6:10 p.m
Moi is sitting with the boyz from the gang in the verandah chatting away to glory. Dad walks in home, removes his shoes while sitting in the rocking chair and stares at me…. No words are spoken!!! Just a long stare ……
6:15 p.m
Grandmother returns from Mysore. Stepping into the verandah, she looks around gives a smile of recognition to all my friends and then turns to the “new” person. No words again…. She walks towards the hall…

Barista-M.G.Road : March 28th, 2005 1:30 p.m
I am waiting for a friend, A, who is late as usual :o) I pick up a magazine to engage myself. At exactly 1:40 p.m, A walks in, impresses me with a smile and settles down in the chair opposite to me.
A: “What is this?? What have u done???”
Moi (all smiles): Nice na?? Just for a change…
A (laughing ear to ear first…and then on a serious note….) Hmmm….well……it looks good… suits ya…
Moi (All smiles again) : Danke Danke …. :o) :o)

Barista-M.G.Road : April 1st 2005 4:00 p.m
Moi waiting for a friend again… (I can never understand why, in 95% of the instances, I am always on time and people are always late for appointments). I pick up a magazine again……. Why do I have to always do this???
4:15 p.m
Moi calls the friend who is supposed to come… “When are u coming” I ask … “I am outside Barista waiting for you. Where are you??” “I am inside Barista” I reply “Well, I came inside and checked but you weren’t there.. ok… anyways… am coming in right now”
R (settling down) : Ene aagidhe ninnge??? Huchh hiditha?? Enidhu ninn avasthe??
Whatz with you?? Are u mad?? What is this new avatar??

Lol.. Now I’ll explain… these are some of the reactions I’ve witnessed over the past 5 days.. Thnx to my new hairstyle!!! Haha.. For people who haven’t seen me with my earlier look or the new look, I had long straight hair…It had been years since I cut it short… and now its short…really really short…above the shoulder… like Barkha Dutt :o) :o) LOL……
Now I am not gonna give justifications on why I opted for this look….. Did it for a change… :o) Thatz all… Isn’t India a free country anyway ???

Pssst......on hindsight…. I think this looks better ;o) and it’s 300 times much easier to maintain!!!! :o) Now my next POA is to get it streaked burgundy..... So wait and watch!!!!

Sparrows at last!!

I am thrilled!!! Very thrilled!!! Yes… U read it right… I am thrilled because after many many days I saw sparrows on three consecutive days!! First day at Kaiwar and the next two days in our very own Bendakaaluru!!! Now, believe me, this is no small thing. Thanks to the pollution and the concrete jungle that Bangalore is fast becoming, spotting a sparrow in the garden is surely a treat these days....
I vividly remember my childhood days at my Grandmothers house in Sheshadripuram. During the day, when grandmother or my aunts cleaned the rice, sparrows use to come into the verandah and peck at the battha, i.e, the husk of the rice. Often, we use to find a sparrows nest in the Sampige tree that adorned the front portion of the house.
The tree is dead now and it’s been years since a sparrow has come into the verandah at 25, N.S. Iyengar Street, Sheshadripuram. The little bird that made its presence felt in so many homes is fast becoming extinct in Bangalore. I doubt if those days will ever come back and we have a sparrow visiting the house!!! I wish that there doesn’t arise a day in the future when we will look and discuss about the bird only when we come across it in textbooks or in encyclopedias!!

Trying to do sum gud in life (for a change) ;o)

Jeez.. the heat is on!! Had a few errands to complete and so I went to Commercial Street today. By the time, I returned home, I was so tired, thanks to the heat outside !!:o) ..But I know I shouldn't be cribbing.. If I can't put up with a temperature of 34 C, how will I manage at Hyderabad, where the temperature can rise to 45 C?? Hmmmph....wonder what I'll do :o(
Have decided to do some voluntary work for the next 1 month that I am in Bangalore. Visited a school for "special children" today. They've agreed to let me help out. Well..... I'd love to teach some of these kids some day in my life, but right now, I'll only be allowed to help with administrative work... :o( :o( Maybe they are apprehensive about letting me near those kids lest I scare them and they don't turn up for school next day!!! Lol..... on a more serious note, its no eez job to teach special children and it requires a lot of skill and patience.... and for now... I am happy to do admin work and help in a small way.... :o)

Sunday special... :o)

Wow!! I watched T.V all day yesterday.. Started with the Malaysian grand prix, then the cricket match.. After that was an English movie..Wrapped it up by watching "Maine pyar kiya" ...the film that was huge hit in the late 80's.. Looking at it now, it amazes me how I even liked the movie once upon a time.. Hilarious dialogues, naach gana, typical bad-father & gud father-plot.. Can't forget a dialogue that Bhagyashree says in the movie when Aloknath reprimands Salman. "Nahin chahiye mujhe do waqt ki roti" %$%$#^^@^& ..I'd have asked.."Babyyeee... how do u plan to survive then??? Wanna eat mud and stones??"

Strain on my cranial nerves!!!

2:30 p.m Friday

Moi: Mamma... I'm hungry!!
Mom: ...................
Moi: Mammmaaaa... Aaakli!! Bojnum ee !! (I’m hungry. give me lunch)
Mom: Wait till the ad break or go serve it yourself.

Moi - serving myself: Ouch!!!! I shud've realized!! :o) After all, wasn't it 2:30 p.m?? When all things at home come to a standstill and Grandma and Mom watch their favorite serial on T.V!! Now lemme rethink...is this their fav serial or is it the one at 7:30 p.m or is it the one at 9 p.m or is it the one at 10:30 p.m??? I can go on with the list but I am not sure about the answer!! :o)

Without any offense to anyone....including mom and grandma..What’s in these serials/soaps that people like & are hooked on to it?? Some of these soaps are atrocious!!! Watching them can be a strain to the cranial nerves!! The characters, the plots, the 101 relations!!! Gosh.. I'd prefer using my brains for something better!!

A few days back, I was in the hall switching channels. Lo Behold!! My ears were forced into listening to a shrill female voice singing the title song of a daily soap (I think)... the lyrics were something like this... "Maangalya, Maangalya, namma jeeva kintha moulya".. This translated to English means...that the Mangalsutra is more precious than our life!!! %&*#@#&!!!!! Now what is that supposed to mean!!! Considering all the possible literal/parallel meanings that the statement can possibly have and the fact that majority of the viewer’s of these soaps are women, it’s still a damaging thing to say!!! Now does today's woman, who fights for equal rights, actually believe in something like that? Are we sending out the right message to the women of today?? Any serial on any channel, barring a handful, portrays the image that a woman "Pehle ek beti hain, phir ek patni, aur phir ek maa"!! This amazes me!! Now, its not that I am a feminist or that I am trying to fight for equal woman oppurtunites and stuff.. All I am saying is... CAN'T WE HAVE MORE SENSIBLE THINGS ON THE IDIOT BOX???

Should I congratulate Balaji and the umpteen other Production houses and crew??? Haven't they been smart and given the consumer what he/she wants?? ” I bet that they are all having a gud nite’s sleep after seeing the TRP ratings soar!! They’ve been successful in making the homemaker’s “enjoy” their “leisure time” Should I blame the public for watching these serials and helping the maker’s of the soaps increase revenue’s?? Should the public ask for “sensible stuff”??? Now, what infact, is “sensible stuff”?? Should I stop thinking about this and let it go as just another phase in Indian television??

The question’s are endless… The arguments will continue… The TV will continue to be a source of entertainment with all its sloppy serials…

Time pass

Its been a long time since I've posted anything on the blog...There's no particular reason for the absence... I've been trying to redesign the blog.. Changed the template from the earlier pink shade..I think this looks more classy.. :o).. Included a new shoutbox, added a few links, and of course, brought in a new site meter - so I can track if my blog's a flop or hit!!!

Life is goin at a really slow pace.. Am trying to keep myself occupied. After all, isnt an "idle mind a devil's workshop"??? Learning a lil bit of the "Romantic language" :o)...I mean, Italian, attended the 2nd level of training for Swing/Salsa/Cha Cha Cha, learning how to do Macrame knots (Pssst, secret b/w U and I.. am making a gift for my sis using the new art I've learnt..Its a surprise for her!!! ), reading gud ol' PGW and Mark Twain.. (I guess I am never gonna get bored or grow out of reading Tom Sawyer or Huckleberry Finn)..

Well, I've had a long break.. Last week, I decided that I would start reading the management comics and that I'd brush up basics in Eco and A/c's.. But ahem, my plans of studying always flop!! I never stick to it.. Jeeeez I wonder what I am gonna do the next 2 yrs.. What is gonna happen to my EMBEEYAA.. :o) Will I ever complete it??

Pssst.. My MFM results are due next week.. I hope they turn out to be gud!!!

Will keep ya updated ;o)
