Row your boat

A friend I met today told me to remember always a poem written by Milton Bradley that I learnt in kindergarten…

Row Row Row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily Merrily Merrily Merrily
For life is but a dream

As a kid, did we ever stop to think what the rhyme meant?? Wasn’t it just a rhyme that u and I would recite in our classes?? But thinking about it today, it struck me that this simple four-liner means so much, and that in fact, it is a lesson in life… It indeed is a beautiful comparison of our life and that of a boat in a stream. Row ur boat gently down the stream… Be in control of what you are doing and guide yourself gently down the stream of life. Take life as it comes, listen to your intuition and don’t be hard on yourself. Be merry. Take it easy, be happy and enjoy every moment of the journey. After all, life is but a dream. :o) :o)

Dogs life...

Well...I just read this fwd that a frnd sent to me and thought its nice...so am sharing it here on my blog... :o]

Extracts from an MBA lesson

A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices it has a note in its mouth. He takes the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please". The dog has money in its mouth, as well. The butcher looks inside and, lo and behold, there is a ten dollar note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing; the dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then it waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with he butcher following him all the way. The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets in it.The butcher follows the dog into the bus. Then the dog shows a ticket which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor. The butcher is nearly fainting at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus. The dog then sits near the driver's seat looking outside waiting for the bus stop to come. As soonas the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the conductor. Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop. It opens the big Iron Gate and rushes inside towards the door.As it approaches the wooden door, the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him.The butcher surprised with this, runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, forthe life of me!", to which the guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key.

"Moral of the story:You may continue to exceed onlooker's expectations but shall always fall short of the boss' expectations. It's dog's life after all.........

To take or not to take!!

So its time to pack my bags and get ready to leave to Hyd for my Emmbiiiiyaaaa!!! Its been so hard deciding what to take with me and what to leave behind. Of course, I will be taking the bare essential, my brains, with me.. I was referring to other things in my earlier statement ;o) For instance, I just HATE to leave my panda behind :o( Am gonna miss it so much.. :o( :o( hate to leave my books behind…but its close to impossible to take all books at home :o) :o) coz after all, I will be living in a teeny weeny room for the next 2 yrs with just sufficient space for my roomies & I and our ICFAI books and bare essentials :o):o) I hate to leave behind my desktop… :o(
I don’t want to leave home without my music collection…so definitely that’s tagging behind me… Proves tht theres a silver lining to every dark cloud :o) :o)

Ha... my new profession ?? :o)

Ok….guess what?????? I just returned now from a voice recording studio.. Hehe.. Now ask me what I was doing there?? Past 3 days, Ive been visiting the studio for dubbing and lend my voice for a recording… LOL…I am not kidding…I REAALLLYY did do it…!!! Believe me!! I lent my voice for a movie that is to be shown to the trainees of the Karnataka Police Academy… By God…this is unbelievable, right??… LOL..

It all started on April 13th.. I was woken up early in the morning (9:45 a.m :o) :o)) by a phone call. A friend asked me if I was free that day and if I knew how to read Kannada. Well… sure I do know how to read it…but trust me its not great and I aint very fluent at it, I said. That’s ok… u can practice, he assured. Just get ready in 30 mins and be ready for a voice recording!!!!!! What??? Whoa Whoa… #%@$&$^&% I wondered what was happening… Anyways in 30 mins, I was ready and Je went to the studio..

Its only there that I found out what was supposed to be done.. My friend is doing a project for the Karnataka Police Dept. He is compiling a training manual and part of the training includes showing trainees an English movie which explains the dos and donts of investigation, how to investigate a case of sexual assault/harassment, how to interrogate a juvenile offender, what to do in a situation of dacoitry or murder… bla bla bla.. They needed a female voice and I was the bakra they found… LOL…

No regrets anyways… It was a great experience.. Now this is not the first time I went to a studio or something like that. When I was a kid… (Now how long back was that, I cant remember… :o)), Sis and I had sung a few songs for a cassette being made for children. Though I don’t remember every detail, I remember the feeling of putting on the headset in the recording room with a filter and mike in front, listening to the musicians, watching the people in the recording room through a glass panel and singing away to glory, without caring two hoots about what people thought about my braying :o) :o) … Well it was the same feeling this time…except that I wasn’t singing (Thank God for the small mercy!!!) but just trying to modulate my voice and deliver the dialogues that was in the script in front of me… LOL… it was hilarious at first…I hadn’t even read the script once before and I was expected to speak with emotion…. Hehehe… Anyways, I think I am improving!! The first day was a disaster but today went well.. I was asked to read out a few lines about a judgement for a juvenile offender. It wasn’t too bad after all.. I have to go to the studio on Monday again to read the last script… Will keep you updated…. Wish me luck :o) :o)

Now for some gyan......

Here’s an interesting story ….

A prominent Chinese, went to America to be educated in American ways. He attended the University of Chicago. One day President Harper met this young Oriental on the campus, stopped to chat with him for a few minutes, and asked what had impressed him as being the most noticeable characteristic of the American people.
“Why,” the student exclaimed, “the queer slant of your eyes. Your eyes are off slant!”
Now…. What do we say about the Chinese???

Small story…but there’s definitely something to learn from it. Many a times; we refuse to believe that which we do not understand. We have a habit of measuring everything around us based on our own impressions, beliefs and opinions. We foolishly believe that our own limitations are the proper measure of limitations. We ought to stop thinking this way because these thought habits are steeped in misery, failure and defeat. Look around and learn… Never close your mind thinking that what you know is right ….!!!!
